Frequently Asked Questions:
Chimney Cleaning:
Q: Is ABLE certified for insurance inspections
and/or cleaning?
A: Yes, we are certified under the WETT
(Wood Energy Technology Transfer) program.
Q: When is the best time of year to have my chimney cleaned?
A: Spring and summer. Waiting time is
minimal. Roofs and chimneys are much safer to climb, and work
on. Creosote from the burning season hasn't had a chance to
deteriorate your chimney liner also!
Q: Does ABLE provide more services than just chimney cleaning?
A: Yes we do! With well over 2 decades
of experience in the home services industry we've learned
alot. If we can't do it, we'll do our best to find someone
for you who can!
Q: What if my fireplace or chimney is not fire or building
code compliant?
A: It will be detailed in writing during
the inspection which may or may not include a sweep. Possible
remedies will be discussed. Please realize that we are not
a non-profit organization and also have families to feed,
therefore...there will be a fee for service regardless of
the condition of the fireplace.
Q: Why should I have my chimney
swept?
A: To prevent chimney fires and the
hazardous buildup of creosote.
Q: How often should I have my chimney swept?
A: The National Fire Code Section 2.6.1.4(1)
states "Every chimney, flue and flue pipe shall be inspected
to identify any dangerous condition annually, at the time
of addition of any appliance, and after any chimney fire."
Q: What is the best method to use
when cleaning a chimney?
A: The best method is by far the european
method. It involves the brushing of your chimney from top
to bottom, and proper removal of creosote deposits.
Q: How long does it take to clean
a chimney?
A: It takes anywhere from 30 minutes
to an hour depending on how dirty and how accessible it is.
Q: Does ABLE provide an inspection
report?
A: Yes! A multipoint inspection report.
We do an inspection from the top of the chimney to the base
of the firebox and provide you with the data.
Q: Why should I hire ABLE to do
my chimney?
A: Because we are conscientious, ethical,
and honest. We try to provide superior service, combined with
proper education for our customers. We have the education
to advise of possible dangers in the condition of the fireplace
or flue, and can provide valid solutions to rectifying any
potential hazards.
